As part of sustainability activities during the gradual return to normal life after the disruption of business due to Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, Ahli United Bank (AUB) resumed its notable Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program by collecting electronic-waste (e-waste) to convert it into useful and environment friendly products, instead of only disposing such material. This initiative is in collaboration with Enviroserve that specializes in e-waste recycling.
This initiative is an extension of AUB’s success in its strategic partnership with Enviroserve to achieve the desired goal to reduce the harmful effects of e-waste on the environment and benefit from it through the metals and material it contains.
Regarding this partnership, Mrs. Sahar Dashti, General Manager Customer Protection, and the Head of AUB CSR Team said: “We are pleased to continue our community role through this initiative, which reflects our care for the environment as one of the main pillars of our CSR program. This is in alignment with applying the vision of our leader His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al Sabah, New Kuwait 2035, and for Kuwait to be a role model through a safe and healthy environment.”
Dashti added: “The curfew and the period of staying at home was a good opportunity to rearrange and organize our houses and dispose of unnecessary items, which contributed to collecting considerable amounts of e-waste that can be used and converted into new material through this partnership with Enviroserve.
Dashti noted that AUB devotes much attention to protecting the environment and to preserving it from pollution affirming that the Bank's CSR program continues its activities with passion, especially in these exceptional circumstances. Such times need bringing together all members of the society to work together in unity to preserve the environment and live in a better world.
