Ahli United Bank (AUB) launched its annual initiative to remove and clean up residues from the seabed of Kuwaiti islands and marine environment, with the participation of a number of volunteer amateur divers from the Bank’s staff who enjoy diving. They set out to spend the whole day cleaning shores & seabed from pollutants, with a view to disseminating and raising the community environmental awareness as well as implanting and enhancing environmental culture in all segments of society, highlighting the health risks caused by the spread of debris and waste, whether to community members or marine life.
This initiative, which kicked off recently from Al-Khairan Bay (inlets), is part of AUB Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program which considers environmental issues as a major focus of its concerns. This initiative aims to elevate awareness among sea-goers about the importance of keeping our seas & Oceans clean.
Commenting on this initiative, Mrs. Sahar Dashti, General Manager Customer Protection, and Head of AUB CSR Team said, “This initiative aims to highlight the importance of cleaning seabed and deep sea for their environmental impact on marine life and the planet, as well as their impact on supporting Kuwait ecosystem. This journey is also a call for all society members to exert more effort to preserve our seabed and deep sea keeping them free of dribs and pollutants.” Dashti affirmed that the cleanliness of seabed and deep sea is the responsibility of everyone on earth.
Dashti added, “We will continue to support everything that would contribute to protecting and improving the environmental situation in all regions of Kuwait, as AUB is always at the forefront with environment friendly institutions that put environmental issues at the top of their CRS programs.”
