In its continuous support for youth and its deep belief in the importance of effective communication with tomorrow's generation, Ahli United Bank has recently hosted a group of students from Abdul Latif Thunian Al Ghanim Secondary School for Boys on a field visit at the Bank's Head Office to learn more about the nature of banking business and the modus operandi of a number of the Bank’s departments, This visit comes as part of the Bank’s Corporate Social Responsibility program, which includes hosting students from various schools in Kuwait with the aim to open channels of communication with young people, raise their banking awareness and identify their concerns, and to inform them about the mechanism of banking business, highlight the importance of saving and its value in economic and community life and to familiarize them with different banking concepts and terminology, which helps them determine their specialties at the university.
The program started with an introductory tour for students, which included a visit to a number of the Bank’s departments, with an explanation of the nature of business of each department. The students also had the opportunity to meet AUB’s Acting CEO; Mr. Tareq Muhmood. He had an open discussion with them about the nature of banking business and enquired about their preferred fields of specialization in their future studies and their career choices, affirming that such activities are complementary to the educational process, allowing young people at this early stage to know first-hand the mechanisms of business in the private sector in general and the banking industry in particular, which promotes their expertise and knowledge.
The visit ended with an interesting competition among the students to find out what do young people really think and what their opinions about the banking services are. Prizes were awarded to the winners of the competition and gifts were distributed to all the students who expressed their happiness with visit and thank the bank for hosting them.
Mr. Muhmood emphasized that AUB is keen to communicate with students at various educational levels through such activities, as AUB organizes these visits based on its belief in its responsibility towards the community, and its keenness to spread financial awareness among young people.
Commenting on this visit, Mrs. Sahar Dashti, General Manager Customer Protection, the Head of AUB Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) said: “We are pleased to host school students from all educational levels, to make them aware of the nature of banking business since young people are the corner stone and the future of our beloved country Kuwait. We are keen to sponsor the initiatives that give students the opportunity to learn about the mechanism of banking business and to communicate with our employees who shared their work experience with them, as well as encouraging Kuwaiti students to be closely acquainted with the practical aspects of the banking sector, which helps them identify their future career.
Dashti added: “This host confirms the Bank's belief in the importance of the role of youth in society, which is one of the main strategies adopted by the AUB’s CSR program in line with His Highness's vision “New Kuwait 2035”, in which, youth are one of its pillars. This step also comes as part of the Bank’s keenness to provide to its employees the opportunity to interact with and transfer their professional skills to the youth generation, to help them improve their readiness and willingness to take charge in the future.”
At the end of the visit, the Administration of Abdul Latif Thunian Al Ghanim Secondary School for Boys expressed their thanks and appreciation to AUB’s administration for their kind hosting of the school students, and the opportunity it provided them to see and know about the banking operations carried out by the bank and enhance their knowledge of such activities, wishing more progress and prosperity for the Bank’s administration.
